Jampa Gelek (Chenrangsé) is a researcher at the Tibetan Canon Office in Chengdu, a branch of the Chinese Center for Tibetan Studies in Beijing. He graduated from the Huangnan Minority Normal School (Qinghai Province) and received further education at Ditsa and Rongpo Monasteries. His scholarship on the Kangyur and Tengyur has resulted in two forthcoming works: Catalogue of the Tibetan Buddhist Canon and the [Bilingual] Catalogue of the "Commentaries" of the Tibetan Buddhist Canon. Jampa Gelek, who writes under the pen name of Chenrangsé, is also an accomplished poet whose works have been published in literary journals such as Spring Rain (Sbrang char) and Moonshine (Zla zer), as well as two publications of collected works, The Sound of Shambhala’s Bell and Footprints of Youth. This spring and summer he is a visiting scholar as the Weatherhead East Asian Institute at Columbia University.
