Tibetan Art Workshops
November 8, 2015
1 - 3PM

During Transcending Tibet, you had a chance to see firsthand the work of more than 30 artists working with Tibetan themes. Now we're delighted to offer you the opportunity to learn from one of the masters himself, using three motifs commonly found in Tibetan art: symbols, animals, and clouds.

Join us this November for three Sunday workshops led by master painter Rabkar Wangchuk. Tickets for each session (including material fees) are available for $40, or as a set of three for $100.

Please note space is limited to allow for one-on-one time with the instructor. To purchase tickets for all three events, select any date and choose the "Set of Three" option. To purchase individual session tickets, select the date you'd like to purchase at the top and select the "Single Session" option.

Rabkar Wangchuk

Rabkar Wangchuk

Rabkar Wangchuk is a Tibetan artist born and brought up in exile India. At the age of seven, he was sent to Gyudmed Tantric monastery in South India, where he trained for over twenty years under the revered thangka teacher the late venerable Ngawang Norbu, as well as under other great Tibetan masters. During those twenty years, he studied wood-carving, butter sculpture, and the consecration of sand mandalas. After creating an intricate Tibetan-styled entrance gate for the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA), he joined this prestigious institution with the goal of dedicating his life to his art. After one year, he became the head of the TIPA art and has served the institution since. His art has earned recognition in both the Tibetan and Western worlds. He is currently based in Queens, New York City.
