This scheme offers support to established Tibetan professionals (generally those with three or more years of relevant work experience) to pursue training that will help them develop their professional skills and pass that knowledge on to others. In particular we are targeting professionals whose past professional experiences, proposed studies, and future career plans are all linked in one way or anther with the development of the system of Tibetan medium education. PTS Scholarships are awarded under the following categories:
Professional Training Domestic Scholarships: Awarded to professionals pursuing training within China. Most PTS scholarships are awarded in this category.
Professional Training International Scholarships: A small number of scholarships are awarded each year for professionals whose fields require them to study internationally.
Professional Training for In-Service Education Professionals: Launched as a new activity in 2007, these scholarships target in-service education professionals. Qualified candidates are given the opportunity to study abroad for either degree or non-degree training.
In 2007, 23 established professionals in various fields received scholarships for further training in their respective fields. Three of these individuals received scholarships to study outside of China. An additional 3 education professionals were awarded international scholarships for advanced education-related training.
