Beginning in 2004 Trace Foundation moved from exclusively awarding external grants to directly implementing its own projects.
Trace’s projects focus on cooperation with local communities and governmental organizations, and seek to incorporate a respect for local culture with the goal of producing communities capable of meeting their own needs in the long term.
Since 2004 Trace has undertaken 14 projects in Tibetan areas of China.
