projects: education
Education plays a vital role in improving quality of life. Strong education systems not only provide a solid foundation which opens the door to economic and professional opportunities, they vitally enrich daily life and help to bolster a community's self-image. Yet, in many rural Tibetan areas, the distance of local schools, lack of relevant teacher training, outdated facilities, and language barriers create significant challenges for those seeking an education. Since 2004, the Foundation has undertaken projects to foster and expand educational opportunities from primary to postgraduate levels in Tibetan areas of China. Projects in education are designed to promote high-quality instruction, which is relevant to local communities. Trace has developed a longstanding commitment to improving educational opportunities in Tibetan areas, and thereby empowering individuals and communities to better cope with the rapidly changing economic landscape.
Trace undertakes both Primary and Middle School Projects and Higher Education Initiatives. As the high cost of tuition fees places a significant strain on the limited means of local families, Trace also sponsors students through a variety of Scholarships.
